Schools Programme
Access to College Courses
The College has a long established partnership with many schools in Aberdeenshire and Moray. This means that you, the pupil, may study a college course even if you are still at school. The courses which are available range from two or three hour duration through part-time to full-time programmes. The type of course that you may access will vary depending upon your age and your ambitions.
Short Courses
These are delivered in the school or in the college and access to these courses will vary depending upon the stage you are at in school. You may be given a choice of courses from across the college subjects or a smaller package of courses may be selected by the school.
Part-Time Courses
These are presented over the course of one or two years and will take place in the school or in college premises. The courses usually provide additional programmes to the curriculum e.g. SQA Highers, SQA Skills for Work Courses, ECDL, Vocational programmes etc.
Full-Time Courses
If your 16th birthday means that you cannot leave school until Christmas you may be allowed exceptional entry onto a full-time college course starting in August before you officially leave school. You would apply for and enrol on the course in the same way as any other college student but you will need permission from your school.
Progression
All these courses will help progression into employment and/or full-time education upon leaving school. As a full-time student at college you can access courses that will give you entry into university. To find out how the progressions system works visit www.scqf.org.uk/students.asp
