Students' Charter

Once you enrol as a student at Banff & Buchan College, you are entering a partnership with the College, aiming to further your education and training. This involves both parties in rights and responsibilities. Outlined below is what we expect from you while you are studying with us.

The surroundings in which you learn are important. You are expected to treat the College buildings with care – and this includes the common rooms – as we all have to share our surroundings.
As a student you are responsible for your learning and study. To help with this the following guidelines may be useful:

  • attend College and classes regularly.
  • participate actively in class/group work.
  • complete the course work and assessments on time.
  • ensure any work handed in is your own work (unless group work is acceptable).
  • behave appropriately in class/tutorial sessions.
  • let your tutor know as soon as possible if you have been absent from College.
  • take advantage of the Guidance & Counselling service if you have any problems.
  • participate in Student Liaison Panel meetings and ensure that your class has representation in the Students' Association.
  • help us to improve our courses by completing our end-of-course evaluation forms.

Our Commitment to You

The College is committed to provide all its students irrespective of age, gender, sex and ethnicity with a quality service provision.

Courteous and helpful staff are always available at the reception desk to give you general information. More detailed information on particular courses can be obtained from specific subject specialists.

If you are undecided about which course or how you can support yourself at College, the Guidance staff are available to help you make informed choices. They can also outline the support systems which are available e.g. grants, bursaries, student loans, etc. A computerised information board is situated in the foyer providing accurate up to the minute College information.

If there is anything that you feel we could improve upon, please tell us. Your views are important.
