- Access key functionality is accessed differently across different browsers, the following list gives a brief summary of how to use access keys in the most popular browsers:
- Internet Explorer 5+: Hold down the Alt key and select the number/letter of the access key, then press Enter.
- Internet Explorer 4: Hold down the Alt key and select the number/letter of the access key
- Internet Explorer 5+ for Mac: Hold down the Ctrl key and select the number/letter of the access key
- Internet Explorer 4.5 for Mac: Access keys are not supported
- Netscape 6+: Hold down the Alt key and select the number/letter of the access key
- Mozilla/Firefox: Hold down the Alt key and select the number/letter of the access key
- Opera (7+ and maybe earlier): Hold down the Shift key and press the Esc key to turn Access Keys on, then select the number/letter of the access key
Links
- Whever possible, links are written to make sense out of context. Some browsers for example JAWS, Lynx and Opera can extract the list of links on a page and allow the user to browse the list separately.
