Public Consultation Event at Banff and Buchan College

Banff and Buchan College are holding an open meeting on Wednesday 18^th February from 6.30 – 8.30pm in their lecture theatre to explain the proposed redevelopment of their Fraserburgh Campus....click on link above for full story

On Monday 19^th January, Fraserburgh Academy pupils were presented with Ipod Shuffles to mark their achievements in the Schlumberger Schools’ Engineering Challenge 2009.

During the heats, which included all S2 classes at Fraserburgh (9 in total), the challenge was to build a mock-up of a drilling rig using Mecanno and power it using a solar panel. The eighteen winners (9 boys and 9 girls) from the heats each received the prize of an Ipod Shuffle, presented by Schlumberger Representative, Dylan Thomas....click on link above for full story

Students Get a Taste of Catering at Sea

A group of students from the Catering & Hospitality section at Banff and Buchan College were recently treated to a visit onboard the MV Hrossey, courtesy of NorthLink Ferries.

The purpose of the visit was to give the students an experience of what is involved in running the catering and hotel operations onboard the MV Hrossey and her identical sister ship the MV Hjatland....click on the heading for full story

On Tuesday 16^th December 13 S3 pupils, all boys, from Ellon Academy, currently studying Skills for Work Engineering with Banff and Buchan College, enjoyed a visit to Schlumberger’s Reservoir Engineering facility at Inverurie. This is the first time that a group from Ellon Academy have participated in the Skills for Work programme.

Schlumberger is the world's leading supplier of technology, project management, and information solutions to the oil and gas industry, and employ over 80,000 people of more than 140 nationalities working in approximately 80 countries.

Banff and Buchan College recently scooped the top prize at the influential FE First Marketing Network awards in the Collaboration category for their Next Steps Strategy. The winning strategy has seen partnership initiatives developed by the College in conjunction with multi-national and local engineering and maritime companies to encourage young people to consider a career in these areas and help meet the recognised industry skills shortages....click on link above for full story
