Students' Association
All students enrolled in the college automatically become a member of the Students’ Association which is run by students for students. Its aim is to make your life as a student more enjoyable.
The association provides a direct link between students and the management of the college ensuring that the student voice is heard at the highest level. It also provides funding for field trips and equipment as well as arranging social events.
The association is also an affiliate member of the National Union of Students (NUS) ensuring that student issues are represented on a national level. As a member of NUS, students are eligible to purchase the NUS Extra Card. This card provides substantial discounts to students both locally and nationally. To find out more and to purchase this card, visit www.nus.org.uk.
Getting involved in the Students’ Association can open up a whole new world to you and provide you with opportunities to develop skills future employers are looking for. There are various ways you can become involved in the Students’ Association:
You can become a class representative or you can become an elected SRC Officer and represent the student body at college committee level working directly with college management.
Within the first month of starting college, each full-time class will be asked to elect two representatives to attend meetings and represent the students in their class. If you want to be involved in some really exciting and important work, put yourself forward for election.
Don’t worry about your ability as full training is provided through SPARQS (Student Participation in Quality Scotland) www.sparqs.ac.uk. You will also be fully supported by the Student Services Officer.
