The Learning Resource Centre (LRC)
The LRC team is based in the LRC where we offer a range of IT and Library services to support you with your learning.  Here you can find books, newspapers and magazines, access electronic resources and use our PCs and study areas.  Our friendly, experienced staff are on hand to help you locate resources, information and advise you in the use of IT programs.  These services are available to all students and staff as well as visitors to the College and members of the public who can join the Library for a small annual fee.

Services
When you enrol on your course you will be issued with an ID card by LRC staff and this allows you access to College services such as the College IT network, Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and College transport. We have a wide range of up-to-date equipment such as PCs with specialist software, scanners, digital cameras, digital video cameras, laptops, eBook readers, DVD/VIDEO players, TVs and digital voice recorders. You can book any of these items in advance by coming into the LRC in person or by contacting a member of staff.  If you have a wireless enabled device you can access your College network account via Wi-Fi in the LRC and throughout the College. We have a quiet study area with private study booths and there is also a group work area where you can collaborate with others on work such as projects and presentations.

To help you present your work we will help you print or photocopy (in B&W and colour) and laminate and bind documents for a small fee. We have a large selection of books, eBooks, CDs and DVD for you to borrow as well as dictionaries for reference in various languages such as Czech, Hungarian, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Russian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Vietnamese, Slovak, Thai, Italian, Polish, Estonian and Croatian. You will be able to search for and access over 3000 eBooks from the College eLibrary.  The entire range of physical books can also be searched via the College Online Library Catalogue where you can also find out if the book you need is available to borrow. If you need to catch up on the news we stock local and national newspapers, and have a range of magazines from Autocar to Woodworker, New Scientist to Micromart and Artists & Illustrators to Hello!

The College Open Learning program is coordinated via the LRC and knowledgeable staff can advise and support you in getting the best from your open learning experience.  We coordinate open learning units and courses in subject areas such Nautical, Business, Admin, Engineering and IT. You can view our Open Learning Directory here. College and University Prospectuses can be found in the Careers section of the LRC as well as booklets and guides on various careers.  More information on careers can be obtained from the Careers Advisor who visits the college on a regular basis.
