Local Information

The town of Fraserburgh is situated on the rugged north-east coast of Scotland, 40 miles north of Aberdeen.  Know locally as ‘The Broch’, Fraserburgh currently has a population of just over 13,000. Fraserburgh is the largest shellfish port in Europe and has a busy commercial harbour.  While fishing is the town’s main industry, Fraserburgh offers a wealth of other attractions, including a beautiful sandy beach. This stretches for 3 miles, with a lovely café just along the promenade serving a selection of home-cooked meals and snacks.
The town centre which is around a 20 minute walk from Banff and Buchan College has a varied range of shops and businesses offering local produce and services.  Opening hours are generally 9.00am – 5.00pm.  Local supermarkets, such as Lidl and Tesco are situated on the outer fringes of the town.  However a good bus service is available within the town, and the main bus station is near the town centre.

From cycling and walking to a wide range of water sports, Fraserburgh and the surrounding area offers so much to see and do.  Tourist attractions include Pitsligo Castle and the award winning Fraserburgh Lighthouse Museum which are definitely worth a visit.
