Wax on – Wax off!

Posted on 18, Nov 2011 Wax on – Wax off!

The SVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy students at the Macduff Learning Centre tore a strip of their clients – all in the name of charity!

Seven “willing” volunteers allowed students to wax their legs with all the proceeds going to Children in Need.  The friends and partners of the students were sponsored to have their legs waxed and raised a yowling £530. If waxing wasn’t for you then a mini facial or mini manicure was on offer on Children in Need Day, with the chance to win a raffle prize but the students paid the price for not turning up in uniform.  They were fined £1 for dressing as they pleased!

School pupils were also included in the fund raising effort when the students went back to school to offer mini manicures to the pupils during their lunch break.

A whooping £900.18 was raised for Children in Need by the Banff & Buchan College students and they hope to continue with their fund raising efforts at the Learning Centres Family Fun Day next year.

The Banff & Buchan College tutor Katherine Mathew said – I was so impressed how the girls all worked together for this great cause. The men involved in the waxing event were all very brave with only a few tears shed during the waxing.
